Scholarships Available
The Crown Point Community Foundation, Inc. supports education as a lifelong pursuit. Through the generosity of its contributors, the Foundation has been able to provide financial assistance to many young people in the community, who are seeking a post-secondary education.
The following is a listing of scholarships administered by the Foundation for 2008
Eisenhower Elementary School PTO Scholarship Award - Must have attended Eisenhower for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. $500 non-renewable
Lake Street Elementary School PTO Scholarship Award - Must have attended Lake Street for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. $500 non-renewable
MacArthur Elementary School PTO Scholarship Award - Must have attended MacArthur for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. $500 non-renewable
Solon Robinson Elementary School PTO Scholarship Award - Must have attended Solon Robinson for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. $500 non-renewable
Timothy Ball Elementary School PTO Scholarship Award - Must have attended Timothy Ball for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. $500 non-renewable
Winfield Elementary School PTO Scholarship Award - Must have attended Winfield or Jerry Ross for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. $500 non-renewable
Trinity Lutheran Scholarship Award - Must have attended Trinity Lutheran School from K through 8th grade. Two $500 non-renewable awards
St. Mary's Catholic Community School Scholarship Award - Must have graduated from St. Mary's and performed community and religious service. Three $500 non-renewable awards
Al Gruber Social Studies Honorarium Award - CPHS senior selected by Social Studies Dept. Chair. $400 non-renewable
Tim Galusha Memorial Scholarship Award - CPHS member of Boys Cross Country Team selected by Coach. $500 non-renewable
Maurine Schlemmer Scholarship Award - CPHS Graduate majoring in secondary Education, full or part time student $350 non-renewable may re-apply annually
The Joseph and Annette Allegretti Scholarship Award - Andrean Graduate, CP or Merrillville resident attending Butler, B average. $600 non-renewable
Crown Point Lions Club Scholarship Award - CPHS Graduate, must have completed the second semester in a bachelor program in speech and hearing pathology, optometry or related field. $1,000 non-renewable, but applicants can re-apply.
Shirley McGinnis Scholarship - Child or legal dependent of a current member of United Steelworkers Local #2695: or a member of United Steelworkers Local #2695 continuing their education. $1,000 non-renewable
Crown Point Republican Central Committee - CPHS Graduating senior preferably majoring in political science or education. $500 non-renewable
American/Italian Benevolent Society Scholarship - Recipients must be of Amer/Italian descent ,maintain a B average and be a Lake or Porter County resident. $5,000 total distributed yearly, non-renewable, but applicants can re-apply.
Kathy and Russ Keller Scholarship - CPHS Graduating senior pursuing an Educational Degree in Special Ed or continuing education at NISEC. $375 non-renewable
Kay Hubbard Music Scholarship - CPHS Graduating senior pursuing a degree in music. $1,000 non-renewable
George Letz, Jr Scholarship - CPHS Graduating senior involved with swim team for four years. $500 non-renewable
Millicent and Forrest Everett Scholarship - CPHS Senior pursuing special education or teacher pursuing additional credit hours toward special education degree. $200 non-renewable
Karen Pruzin Scholarship - CPHS Senior involved on tennis, baseball or basketball team. Years rotate between a boy and a girl. 2008 is a boy involved on baseball or basketball with at least a 2.5GPA
Paul and Dorthea Everett Scholarship - CPHS senior. $1,400 non-renewable
Charles and Marjorie Quickle Scholarship - Student pursuing degree in divinity or theology work with ministers. $3,775 non-renewable. Applicants can re-apply.
Wilbert Buth Music Scholarship - Trinity Lutheran graduate going to CPHS, Merrillville HS or Hanover HS majoring in music. $3,500 non-renewable
Helen Zielinski and Ray Stuck Family Scholarship - CPHS or Andrean senior with music or arts major and B average or better. $1,000 non-renewable
William G. and Phyllis M. Fatch Scholarship - CPHS senior majoring in education (1st priority) or any other deserving candidate. $500 non-renewable
Birdzell Scholarship- Must be CPHS senior or CP resident. Two $1,000 non-renewable awarded
Barney's Hub Bootery Scholarship - Crown Point resident with GPA 2.5 or above. $1,000 each year for 3 years renewable
Virgil Place Scholarship - CPHS senior pursuing degree in natural sciences or the humanities. $3,750 each year for 4 years renewable
L. Jane Keene Scholarship - Crown Point resident. $550 non-renewable
Marilee Thanholdt Scholarship - CPHS senior selected by English Dept. chair. $1,900 renewable
Gail and Gil Stiener Scholarship - CPHS Senior. $1,000 non-renewable
Patrons Scholarships - Foundation decision. Amount depending on Patron donations for the current year.
'Tiny' Bohling Humpfer Scholarship - CPHS senior. $500 non-renewable
John D. Amodeo Scholarship - CPHS senior majoring in business. $1.000 non-renewable
Todd Szanyi Scholarship - Hanover Central male athlete of the year. $500 non-renewable
Todd Szanyi Scholarship - Hanover Central female athlete of the year. $500 non-renewable
Todd Szanyi Scholarship-Hanover Central graduating senior pursuing degree in arts $500 non-renewable
Dean White Scholarship - CPHS male senior attending accredited state university majoring in business. Need based. Full 4 year scholarship
Barbara White Scholarship - CPHS female senior attending state accredited university. Need based. Full 4 year scholarship
Coach Harry Allison Scholarship - CPHS Senior attending Ball State, preferrably for athletics $500 non-renewable
Mark and Lindsay Bates Scholarship - CPHS Senior attending any Indiana college $500 non-renewable
Jerry Caravana Athletic Director Senior Scholarship - CPHS Senior athlete, trainer or manager who lettered in an IHSAA sanctioned sport, 2.75GPA, attending 4 year college $1,000 non-renewable
Russ Keller Family Scholarship - CPHS senior accepted and attending IU Bloomington, 3.0 GPA $500 non-renewable
Russell C Westphal Family - CPHS graduating senior $400 non-renewable
Fran and Billie Hoffman Scholarship - CP resident attending vocational school for Accounting or Bookkeeping $1,500 non-renwable
Fran and Billie Hoffman Scholarship - CP resident attending vocational school for Auto/Truck/Diesel Mechanics $1,500 non-renwable
Vincent Morgavan Memorial Scholarship - Andrean graduating senior pursuing music degree. If no Andrean, then CPHS. $500 non-renewable
Marie Van Slyke Scholarship - CPHS graduating senior. $300 non-renewable
Mike Brown Jr. Memorial Scholarship - selected by Mike Brown Jr. Memorial Scholarship Committee.
Dan and Vicky Klein Leadership Award - CP resident seeking to advance or develop leadership skills through a seminar, program, conference, clinic, workshop or class. $1,000 available each year. Please visit our "What's New" page to print out the applicaton for this award.
